kidnap kid’s birds that fly label got off to a flying start with his ow&#8203,,,,,,n release,‘ moments’ feat leo stannard picking up over two million plays and shaking up the spotify / hype machine charts. next up on the imprint is rising uk star apple&#8203,,,,,,bottom with &#8203,,,,,,‘the ride’ ep, an artist that draws many parallels to kidnap kid’s own early career as he barely has made his way out of his teens but already caught the ear of some of the most sought-after labels and radio establishment. annie mac can’t get enough of him and his releases on kerri chandler’s madtech, zed bias’ biasonic and uk powerhouse black butter records have coined him one of the future figureheads of dance music. applebottom has come to be considered a beatmaker able to transverse genres with that rarest of production talents: the consistent ability to make a straight-up club banger, which makes him the perfect follow up for birds that fly. “‘theride’ was quite a diff&#8203,,,,,,erent piece of music for me, ’he explained of the track, ‘i had been thinking about where i d want to release it and i was pretty stuck. but shortly after i d finished it kidnap kid’s first ep on birds that fly came out, and straight away i felt a connection with the sound and a lot of the music i’ve been making recently. it already feels like it has a clear and distinctive sound forming and i can t wait for my music to be part of that.” applebottom hails from the musical mecca of bristol but shares a pioneering view of its style and output. “&#8203,,,,,,i think a lot of people have just gotten too comfortable making the same sounding dance music - and for me that kind of defeats the point, there’s so much variety in it. i feel that particularly for my generation anyway, we’re a lot younger as producers and it’s kind of our job to be that next generation that produces that next sound. we should be striving to make something new and different and build our own vision of what it should be.

for this album, ebo joined forces with 12-piece band ‘the pelikans’ — from the cape coast region of ghana — led by bessa simmona, with rhythm guitarist fifi orleans lindsay. a genuine ‘holy-grail’ of ghanaian music and one of ebo’s most saught-after.
the album was released on the small abookyi label. named after a nightclub they played in called pelikans, and sung in english and fante, this was the first album where ebo sang on tracks, such as the classic ‘come along’, on which he also plays keyboard. this song clearly defined a new direction in highlife and has become a ghanaian funk anthem. ‘come along’ formed the basis of sadat x’s ‘remember that’ hip hop jam from 2011.

the reality is a relative concept, and our life is made up of fantasy and illusion. our music is the key of our thoughts, and our sound can help us to discover it. nothing is real express our vision in a period where information is false and manipulated most of the time. alberto iovine and alessandro fumagalli aka modular project announce the launch of their new label, in partnership with rebirth records. born and raised between como and milan, alberto and alessandro quickly shared their love for electronic music and the great passion for vintage synths and drum machines. they started to produce together in 2012 and released on labels like off, moodmusic and perpetualis music before joining rebirth in 2017 with their remix of the blond:ish classic wizard of love. the label s third release is a special ep from modular project. alphaville is an hypnotic journey through shades of indie electronica, new wave and their signature sounds, while another glimpse is a beautiful emotional slow workout. the package comes with two strong remixes from nuno dos santos and fairmont. amsterdam dj and producer nuno dos santos reworked alphaville adding a darker and trippy touch, while jake fairley aka fairmont, key force in the canadian electronic music scene, gave another glimpse a beautiful deeper and atmospheric appeal. a strong third release for nothing is real.

betonkust immediately blended in with the 9300 family and it felt like we ve been knowing each other for years and years. after his characteristic remix on innershades latest ep (aal006), it was only a matter of time before he would deliver his own release on our label. with varied percussions, hard kicks and dark synths, the 0% swing ep brings you back to a time when belgian highways were still lavisly flanked by discotheques and afterhours clubs. an era that counts as one of the most beatiful pages in belgian dance history and of which betonkust probably has more knowledge than most of our fellow-countrymen. all four tracks on this proper release produce a thrilling energy that will bring those sleepy ravers, from the 90 s, back to life.

idle hands continues its quest to support new talent coming out of bristol with a fresh 12inch from local beatsmith crump. up to this point, he s been quietly slipping out razor sharp reduced house cuts on various artist releases for extended play and banoffee pies, but it s high time he had a 12inch of his to truly showcase his sound. the two tracks on this single tap into a consistent thread on idle, fusing the minimal sensibilities of contemporary european house music with a swung, dub-weighted presence fit for soundsystem consumption in the fair city we call home. much like previous releases from leif, christian jay and matt karmil, this is a demonstration of stripped down music loaded with swagger. -ice & spheres- pivots around an ear-snagging 2-step shuffle that cuts through any mix, but there s scores of subtlety woven in between the drums to reward the attentive listener. snatches of vocal, distant field recordings, low-blowing synth licks and other unidentifiable sonic matter lurk quietly in the mix to cast a spell on the sleep-deprived twitcher and warm-up head-nodder alike. sporting a brighter disposition thanks to the sheen of its chords, -mechanisms- provides a different vibe on the flip. the beat throws down with a rugged nod to west london broken styles while still tapping into that aforementioned continental 4/4 sensibility, injecting a refreshing variation into the densely populated minimal house landscape while maintaining the meditative qualities that keep the genre close to our hearts

the prolific mc, producer and musician oddisee’s new album ‘the iceberg’ is a plea for humanity to dig deeper in search of understanding and common ground. his third release in just 12 months, ‘the iceberg’ is a distillation of stereotypical tropes in hip-hop and beyond, 12 tracks about money, sex, politics, race and religion that appear superficial until his multi-dimensional lyrics unfurl to expose the complexities of individuality and identity: how we see ourselves and how others see us. deeply soulful, and shot through with jazz, go-go, gospel, thick r&b and hard beats, the album is a timely, poetic statement.
lead single “things” acts as a mission statement for the album, a deep dance groove with lightning-quick lyrics about “things” he’s going through. says oddisee, “we all go through the trials & tribulations of life. why is it we feel the need to individualize our shared experiences? if only we could see our concerns as others do, maybe they wouldn’t be so serious.”

there are tracks that only deploy their full meaning when pumping through the speakers of a dark club. to give shelter to the latter, hivern kick starts a new series of vinyl-only splits dedicated to club-ready cuts by artists in our orbit. to launch the series, we count with both a well-known hivern stalwart and a new addition to the label. side a is dedicated to cel avall , a track that has been hidden in marc pinol s vaults for way too many years. with it s slow pace and direct but hypnotic feel, it sounds as if one of the pioneers of the first wave of chicago house had spent a night dancing to danielle baldelli at the cosmic club. in the b-side, aurora 2 , by norwegian producer charlotte bendiks, also has something of the rawness and minimalism of the first chicago sound. a perpetually fresh energy that, combined with her nonchalant vocal phrasings, provides the track with her distinctive blend of darkness, sensuality and cheekiness. the visual concept of the series has been developed by london based design studio dr.me

a1/ guehi jean pantalon s craqué guéhi jean is a key figure of ivorian music and many of his records mixing funk, jazz and afrobeat are sought after nowadays. having left africa in order to make it in france, he recorded this digital afrobeat hit in paris, then went back to his native country where he died in 2012. despite his talent, guéhi jean didn t get the recognition he deserved.
a2/ michel conte & cie s magoshan a disco anthem composed for quebec cultists wearing flares, or the main theme from an obscure series? anyway it is time to acclaim magoshan s pulsing come back on the dancefloor!
b1/ jean-michel gascuel s dominus this french composer who collaborated with pierre schaeffer was also a great lyricist working for the likes of vivian vee or suzy andrews, and a fashion designer. with its latin touch, this track is a little ufo standing out of the rest of his french productions, so let us be blessed by dominus domine dominarum.
b2/michel robidoux les planètes this track by composer michel robidoux featured on a kidisk with a book called -visitons les planètes avec goldorak- and was released in canada in 1980. this incredible space jam was chosen as a macaroon for this new ep – our tribute to an amazing composer who wrote more than 325 songs and even collaborated with leonard cohen.

what’s the best thing we can do? what our heart tells us, so finally we do it. enough! music starts a vinyl only limited series with collected fine musicians. the first outstanding release is by label owner himself danilo schneider, he presents his ep take a breath. the deep passion and focus on excellent productions is the result on this first release here.

wah wah 45s are very proud to announce their first foray into the format of the future-retro fan – the cassette. and who better to deliver our debut release on this cult medium, than our very own electronic beat makers and hip hop nerds, paper tiger. over the last four years, the leeds and london based crew have been quietly pasting together some of the more interesting and subversive off-cuts and live interludes that were recorded around their two lp releases.

> it felt like a long wait for us, but finally we can present the first artist on our label xxx, jack pattern<. with great honor we introduce to you this collective consists of three producers who live and breath deep in the heart of switzerland. they delivered four diverse and atmospheric stellar dance floor tracks with serious hints to the late 80s. this first vinyl only release on xxx, will be accompanied with custom made artwork by patrick van vliet. patrick s work has evolved from pop surrealistic, psychedelic imagery to a dutch social realism. he incorporates social annoyances and public degeneration from day to day life in his images. these images seem familiar but alienate. alienation by disrupting the familiar with uncanny elements and deviant colors. a perfect mix for this release. xxx is a new label that combines music, art and club nights curated by shmlss. every artist they invite has the freedom to fill in the x.

on the top coat (a-side) the artist takes a simple loop and manages to turn it into 5 minutes of euphoria that will get your entire body moving, whereas the second track soundtracks you leaving our london based salon with everything on point.
on the base coat (b-side) the energy comes down a few notches to a warmer serene state before rounding this record off with a track that will see those freshly preened and polished gel tips curled into a fist in the middle of the dance floor straight through til morning.

arla iii, like the previous two records in the series, is a culmination of our combined influences. a representation of our memories - both real and false, of uk rave culture. these records have been informed as much by fantasy as they are real memories. the result of us piecing together our experiences of growing up and going out to raves in the welsh countryside

the 5th ep on the label of our man bastian bux goes one step beyond. this time he delivers a lovely vocal track featuring kyla millette and the final result is a modern techno track plenty of soul and elegant vibes. the remix package of this lights ep is awesome. steve rachmad delivered not one but two remixes, the first one in a first class deep way and the second one under his sterac nickname, electronic laidback pop for connoisseurs. fur coat did a raw techno remix, powerful but with all the elements under control. if you are a real electronic music lover, here you will find at least one track you will love, trust us

this customarily smooth set from 1981 is perhaps most famous for featuring three unforgettable tracks made with marcos valle. rio’s pop-soul wunderkind was exploring soul textures at the same time as leon was absorbing the rich flavour of brazilian harmonics. together, they crafted rhythmically sophisticated and melodically adventurous soul.

nice price deal !!! following our quest for inventive approaches within the sometimes tired and highly commodified house / tech house / techno / minimal or whatever you call it scene, we ve gone this time for landesvatter. regardless of having already signed a few full lenght lps on the highly esteemed normoton as well as on under_line and others, joachim landesvatter prefers to keep a low-key atittude. he offers us two great tracks, each one followed by a very special remix. the original of nome is a highly bouncy digitech house track for the dancefloor, with an infectious sinewave to keep you hooked from beggining to end. the remix of nome, in charge of arp aubert (marco niemerski aka tensnake & stephan lorenz) who run the great mirau musik, comes on the form of a hysterical dub house track that literally puts >the roof in the air<. we recommended for full effect to keep the volume on the red. as usual, the second half of the release follows at a quieter pace. hausse is a track on a out to lunch tradition, greatly influenced by detroit but at the same time distancing itself from the current plethora of nostalgics. in-house duo taron-trekka closes the package with a deep remix, rich on freaky jazz touches. we lack words to describe it.

not safe for wax slides into its first release with head honcho miagma’s “her palms” ep, which delivers four cuts of emotive, warehouse ready tunes, thawed out and prepped for these winter months!
the title track sets us off, combining rattling hats, blurry pads and one tough cookie of a kick to make a banger beato would be proud of. on remix duties is everyone’s favorite uk based spaniard pépe, bringing us back to those early days of ibiza with his soaring balearic vibes.
the b side flips the script on genres entirely, rumbling through with “untitled #3” a breakbeat-to-broken foot of a floor stomper. finishing out our journey is “anguish lagoon”, a proper tribute to junglists and jungles alike!

kanja records is sincerely honored to present its sixth vinyl release, based on a concept called sunday mornings. with this series of releases we will focus on that warm up, early morning, after party gems and slowly fading away from peak time music. our philosophy behind this concept is that the focus goes to the tracks being timeless, and music that you can listen to in every time of day and night. music that offers a vast variety, but in the end coming together in that sweet and warm morning glory. bidon by university of nowhere was definitely our first pick for the first track on this release. nice warm pads and steady broken beats are becoming a trademark for their production. astral control by maurice giovannini perfectly sits beside our opening track with its laid back mood and again nice moody pads. insen gathway by widovski, an opening track on our b side, with nice minimalistic grooves, warm pads and freaky background ticks, surely deserves a spot on this release. defenders of prisma by gabriele carasco and enzo pietropaolo is the final track on this vinyl release. a really special track, which has a very mysterious and sentimental vibe and nicely rounds up our sixth release.

fushara aka thushara goonewardene is a london based electronic musician working with breakbeats, samples and synthesiser. a constant theme for his music is urban decay. from the late 90s fushara has been involved with the london scene as a raver, dj, and producer. he has produced experimental work for labels such as pineconemoonshine, mjazz and more recently scientific recordings. in 2015 he set up an imprint lone foundation to showcase experimental bass music collaborating with daat and others. more recently he has made a return to work with breakbeat collaborating with infest for one of his tracks on his debut on criterion records and has signed to flex recordings for a forthcoming ep. here he makes his bow on 7th storey projects with two amen-driven monsters - the a side features ascension , an epic roller with industrial atmospherics and haunting vocal snatches. this is backed up with nerve on the b side, a nine and a half minute militant amenistic assault that hits hard, just the way we like it! we re delighted to welcome fushara to our roster of talent, we are sure you will be hearing plenty more from the man going forward!

today, we are glad to introduce you to our tone series remix series. one and a half years after the launch of the parent label, tone series has released five eps (consisting of two tracks each), all composed by french musician david k. and almost halfway between the first release ts10 and the last one ts01 (ts06 came out at the beginning of september 2017), we thought it would be interesting to ask artists we like to reinterpret one of david s creations.as a result, we re delighted to present you as 1st ep (tsrs01) of this tone series remix series: dipe (ts09) re-drummed by french music composer and dj traumer as well as winter bells (ts06) remixed by japanese artist tomoki tamura, both artists getting the ball rolling for this new soulful and colourful series.

e.d.c wishes to explore electronic music through different universes where spaces, noises and textures are central to the creative process. his researches aim to experiment and think outside the box, allowing us to navigate through purposely-colored music and other worlds where every detail counts.
in this first release, the reverberations in each track create a shaking outcome that warns about the upcoming epic adventure with the wind of indestructibility that the tracks blow in our direction.
